 Escuchar Sunshine pop corriente musical que nace en la costa Oeste de EE.UU a mediados de los años 60 . sus canciones siempre me llenan de optimismo y claro sus temas siempre hacen alusión a la primavera y al verano con sus días de sol, de campos repletos de hermosas flores y su verde hierba, de las brisas cálidas de los atardeceres, la naturaleza en sus canciones es una metáfora a la libertad. Los que componían este tipo de música quería escapar de agitación política  y social de la época   . su estilo estaba lleno de tono melódicos y sonido llenos de alegría con unos optimistas y  armoniosos vocales , acompañados de una gran orquestación. Los grupos y bandas musicales que componían y cantaban estas canciones se ponían nombres de frutas, colores, conceptos cósmicos. Su genero estaba muy ligado al soft-rock y bubblegum-pop,  y la psicodelia. fue una corriente musical con una alternativa ideal para las familias y que aprovechó la televisión americana para hacer series como "Brady Bunch" y "Partridge family" . 

De esta corriente musical surgieron  grandes bandas musicales peros mis favoritos son:

The Mamas and The Papas fue un grupo musical compuesto por dos chicos John Phillips y Denny Doherty y dos chicas Cass y Michelle. aunque su duración como grupo  duro solo 3 años. Fueron uno de los grupos icono  que utilizo una mezcla de Folk, pop, rock, jazz y pop con  bellas armonias  tipico de la Sunshine pop y cuyas canciones como "California Dream" y "Monday, Monday" siguen gustando a pesar del paso del tiempo.




Beach Boys  fue  una banda formada en 1961, por los 3 hermanos (Brian, Dennis y Carl Wilson), un primo Mike Love , y un buen amigo Al Jardine. Este grupo ha perdurado hasta finales de los 90. sus canciones surferas  como "Surfin' USA","Help Me, Rhonda", "I Get Around", "Fun,Fun,Fun,Las canciones de Brian Wilson celebra una fantasía adolescente de la Costa Oeste, lleno de surfing, la conducción y las chicas guapas que apenas ocultaban los conflictos internos del compositor. La canción más al estilo Sunshine Pop fue "Good Vibration" que tenia unos sonidos muy psicodélicos y espectaculares dejando  lo surfero a un lado.



The Association fue una de las más atractivas bandas sunshine pop a mediados de los años 60, The Association fue formada por Gary Alexander , Russ Giguere, Brian Cole, Ted Bluechel, Terry Kirkman , aunque este último fue rápidamente reemplazado por Jim Yester. No obtuvieron exito hasta su segundo album que fue producido por Jim Yester hermano de Jerry  y Gary Alexander fue reemplazado por Larry Ramos  antes del lanzamiento del tercer álbum de la banda, Insight Out, que fue producida por Bones Howe.  los Singles  con más éxito fuerion "Windy", y un número 2 con los Hermanos Addrisi , 'Never My Love'  que se confirmó como la segunda canción más representada del siglo XX después de los Righteous Brothers ,  "Lovin 'Feeling".





The Monkees eran un grupo de jóvenes adolescentes que  originalmente actuaban para una comedia televisiva del mismo nombre y  que en poco tiempo se  convirtieron en Top 10 hits, y el "Prefab Four" y ademas en iconos de medios de comunicación. En 1967 fue una de las bandas más populares de los EE.UU, superando a los Beatles y a los Rolling Stones. sus éxitos son "I am Beliver" y "Daydream beliver" . Su época más Sunshine pop fue en 1968 que hicieron  una película con temas psicodelico  llamado "Head", la cual fue un desastre, al poco despues la serie tambien fue cancelada. Poco tiempo Michael Nesmith dejó la banda.Tras todo esto  sus creadores  dijeron que el grupo solo fueron un producto y nada más. Curiosamente en esta época The Monkees rechazaron grabar "Sugar Sugar" y Kirshner al ver la posibilidad de ahorrarse la selección y conflictos que llevaba elegir a los miembros, creó un grupo de dibujos animados llamado The Archies, basado en la serie cómica Archie y "Sugar Sugar" fue el mayor éxito de 1969.





Cuatro hermanos que querían ser los Beatles formaron una banda llamada Los Cowsills .Los primeros conciertos fueron en los bailes de la escuela y las iglesias alrededor de su casa en Newport, RI. Con el tiempo, ya que su sonido armónico fue perfeccionado, consiguieron una actuación regular en Bannisters Wharf en Newport donde se cantaban canciones de los Beatles, hora tras hora. Las primeras grabaciones estaban  cuatro hermanos despues se unió  Barbara ("mini-mamá")  unió al grupo para grabar The Rain, The Park y other things" , y poco después  Susan y su hermano, Paul, se añadieron al grupo. Los Cowsills gozó de gran éxito durante los últimos años 60 y en hasta el principios de los 70 no sólo con su música, sino que aparecen como invitados en numerosos programas de television e incluso a tener su propio especial de televisión. Los Cowsills también eran portavoces de la American Dairy Association  apareciendo en comerciales y anuncios impresos de la leche. Los Cowsills se disolvió a principios de 1970, pero la mayoría de ellos nunca han abandonado el negocio de la música y varios miembros han reagrupado a través de los años.
